Boldog születésnapot ‘Léta letí’ és ‘Dávno nejsem hloupá’!

Which is a ‘Happy Birthday’ (in her native language – Hungarian) to Valérie Čižmárová’s ‘Léta letí’ and ‘Dávno nejsem hloupá’ – recorded on 5th December 1970: the former with music by Giorgio Moroder (as his own ‘Looky Looky’) and lyrics by Vladimír Poštulka and the latter originally by H. Price (music) and D. Walsh (lyrics) (as Lancelot Link and The Evolution Revolution’s ‘Sha-La Love You’) with lyrics by Miroslav Černý, the accompaniment, in both cases, coming from Taneční orchestr Čs. rozhlasu (TOČR) (The Czechoslovak Radio Dance Orchestra) under the direction of Josef Vobruba and both also being produced my Miloš Skalka.

With that first-class team (in all respects) this is what could be done in Czechoslovakia with two slices of Bubblegum Pop.

Finally, since he has been in my thoughts over this past few days, may I take this opportunity to introduce GOTGE readers to the Pianist and Band Leader who had the amazing good fortune to discover a voice like Valinka’s in a town of just circa 40,000 population in the very far East of Czechoslovakia – the one and only Otakar Krásenský. Here are some stills of Otakar taken from the ‘Příběhy slavných’ – ‘Léta letí’ documentary on Valinka’s life and work.

Here is a recent article – in one of the local newspapers of the far East of Slovakia, ‘Korzár Dolný Zemplín’ –  with a photo of the man who made this remarkable musical discovery, who is evidently still with us on planet Earth, unlike, sadly, Valinka herself. I can see, from translating the Slovak, that he studied Food Chemistry. That means that I am in the very fortunate position to claim a connection inasmuch as, in my many ‘past lives’, I studied Food Technology.

As a Food Chemist, he certainly discovered the right formula with Valinka!
